The public perception of SRCC will always be an important image to maintain, especially as long as we have flying site availability as an issue. A very positive step was taken on May 28 when club President Richard Wynn, V.P. Sebastian Verrier, and club Treasurer Sam Varn conducted a "show and tell" presentation for the Sunrise Rotary Club. Several aircraft were shown including a 60 size heli, a 60 size built up P-47 (complete with dropping bombs and machine gun sounds), a 40 size Fokker D-VII ARF biplane and an electric Soar Star. Richard provided an excellent presentation on the history of the hobby and the electronics we use. He showed the group two examples of glow engines, both four cycle and two cycle. Bob Dee produced an excellent hand-out brochure which promoted the club and addressed many of the common questions that arise about the hobby. A flight simulator demonstration did not work out because of software/hardware issues, but it was not missed. Several questions were also fielded from a very interested audience of approximately 50 Rotarians. Requests for additional presentations, including one to a local Boy Scout troop, were made and hope to be included in the future community relations opportunities for the club. After the presentation and questions, Rotary members adjourned to the Civic Center "flight deck" outside. There they

ful event. A reminder to the membership that Sunday, April 7th is reserved as a "Rain out" date for the event. Sebastian (Vice President) acting as chairman directed Jeff Owens, Ory Weil and Chris Farrell to act as the committee to commission a Member of the Year award and to present ideas to the membership outlining the selection of the recipient process. Ory Weil gave the following outline: "This is a proposal to establish a Member of the Year Award. The award is to be presented at the December club meeting. Nominations may be presented at any time of the year, and all nominations will be revealed at the December meeting to be voted on. The award will be in the form of a plaque (8 x 4 inches). The plaque will be engraved with the Seminole Club emblem, member of the year contributions to the club, and the name of the member winning the award and the year. The plaque will be paid for by the club and not to exceed $35.00. This proposal is presented by the committee comprising of: Ory Neil (speaker), Chris Farrell, Hank Janowski, and Jeff Owens." The club had voted on and approved to participate in Clear Channel Communication's "Spring into Summer Expo 2002" held at the Tallahassee Mall.
